Cuillin FM is always on the lookout for volunteers.
We exist now because twenty years ago a dedicated group of volunteers spent a huge amount of time and energy making their vision of a local community radio station a reality. And it's the same today. So much has to happen "behind the scenes" to keep us on the air every day. Whether you're listening to your favourite show live from the studio, the shinty outside broadcasts every weekend or the weekly Sunday church service.
We have one staff member, Ruth, who oversees the day to day running of the station, but the programmes you hear on your radio are all presented by our fantastic volunteers. Our board of directors are volunteers too. We have volunteers who help with fundraising to keep us on air, those who help make our outside broadcasts happen and even those who help with the gardening!
However, we always need more help to take the station from strength to strength. We would really love to hear from anyone who may be able to give a couple of hours of time a week or a month or even a year. The more knowledge and skills we have available, the better everything runs. Unlike bigger commercial stations, we don't have paid engineers or IT specialists or even cleaners, which sometimes can have the potential to slow things down when unexpected stuff happens.
We'd also love to hear from anyone who'd like to learn to present a show, especially (but not only) our breakfast and drive-time shows. Or maybe you'd like to help with outside broadcasts - learning to set up and down or being a runner at events. There are so many different ways to get involved. And we appreciate and need them all.
If you’re interested in being involved, just get in touch with Ruth. We would love to hear from you.
